QWF Seeks Communications Assistant (8\u2010week contract)

\nThe Quebec Writers\u2019 Federation (QWF) is seeking a reliable, detail\u2010oriented, and motivated young person
\nbetween the ages of 15 and 30 for an eight\u2010week position as Communications Assistant in the QWF Office in
\nthe Atwater Library and Computer Centre, Westmount, in June and July 2019. Supervision, training and
\nmentorship will be provided by Rachel McCrum, QWF Communications and Membership Coordinator, and Lori
\nSchubert, Executive Director. The job would particularly suit someone interested in arts management and\/or
\ncommunications, and would provide invaluable career\u2010related experience.
\n\uf0b7 Start date: ***10 June, 2019 TBC***
\n\uf0b7 Length of contract: 8 weeks
\n\uf0b7 Hours: 30 hours a week, to be spread over 4 days (10am \u2013 530pm)
\n\uf0b7 Salary: $12.50 an hour
\nPrimary responsibilities
\n\uf0b7 Compile, assemble, and send out the monthly QWF e\u2010newsletter detailing upcoming opportunities,
\nsubmissions deadlines, residencies etc.
\n\uf0b7 Prepare and disseminate e\u2010communications and social media updates for the QWF, maintaining a
\nprofessional and engaging tone throughout.
\n\uf0b7 Update the news feed on the QWF Website by researching and creating relevant news articles, and
\ninterviewing at least 2 local authors\/QWF Members to create original content.
\n\uf0b7 Update the QWF contacts database to input information on community and outreach groups, and other
\nspecial interest groups, and to undertake some reporting on these groups.
\n\uf0b7 Organize and upload the zine content from the Writers in the Community project with at\u2010risk youth in
\norder to disseminate and promote this creative work.
\nRequirements
\n\uf0b7 Must be aged 15 to 30 (please note: the funding is no longer contingent on the successful applicant
\nbeing a student.)
\n\uf0b7 Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been
\nconferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
\n\uf0b7 Must have a valid Social Insurance Number and be entitled to work in Canada in accordance with
\nrelevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
\n\uf0b7 Must have an excellent command of written English, and conversational French for telephone.
\n\uf0b7 Must be able to work autonomously to organize and prioritize tasks.
\n\uf0b7 Must demonstrate an ability to write, edit and proofread your own documents for accuracy and correct
\nspelling, grammar, and punctuation.
\n\uf0b7 Experience with Facebook and Twitter.
\nAdditional assets
\n\uf0b7 Experience with Mailchimp, WordPress, and Salesforce.
\n\uf0b7 Familiarity and enthusiasm for Quebec\u2019s English\u2010language literary scene.<\/p>\n
